My name is Katherine Love and I am the campaign coordinator for my good friend Feras. Feras is a loving father of two small children Serag and Sanad, little boys who are now 2 and 4 years old. Their mother Remah and Feras are dedicated to protecting and caring for their children while they try to survive an active genocide.

To paraphrase Feras, the family lives in a tent that is poor quality that has no thickness to it, as a result it provides no warmth or protection from the elements. They were forced to leave home in summer clothing and could not bring anything along with them, so these little ones lack heavy clothes now that winter has arrived.

Similarly, their is no protection or comfort in the summer’s heat. The family lacks mattresses and blankets. Their life in tents is continued suffering and exposure to danger.

This family – more than anything – needs our help to feed these two little boys and to cover their other most essential needs (medicine as needed, clean water, clothing).

For purposes of transparency, all funds will be transferred to Feras in full. Per his request the funds will be routed through a reliable bank account from my own.

Current prices have been increased, as now more than four months have passed since anything has been allowed to come in to Gaza. Feras and his family face ongoing man-made famine and costs of all basic and necessary items are to the extreme…he explains some basic costs here:

“Flour, which is the most important of all, a 25-kilo bag costs no less than $800.

The price of one kilo to make 12 loaves [thin rounds, not what we think of as loaves] of bread costs $30, and this unfortunately must be provided daily.

The price of pasta per kilo is the same as the price of flour or $5 less. The price of a liter of sorghum is $20.

Unfortunately, the price of a kilo of wood that we burn to make bread is $3.

Of course, the daily need is no less than 3 kilos, and the total is $10. As for the price of vegetables, a kilo of potatoes costs $18. A kilo of eggplant costs $17.

A kilo of cucumbers costs $20. A kilo of tomatoes costs $25. A kilo of chickpeas, which is considered a legume, costs $15. A kilo of peas costs $13. A kilo of beans costs $15. As for canned foods such as beans, chickpeas, vegetables, tuna, and canned meat of all kinds, the least thing needs $10. The lowest for sugar is a kilo at $120.”

In addition to extremely high costs, Feras must contend with high commission rates which are, ranging between 20-45%. This reduces what he is able to collect each time from funds sent…and then he has to use this reduced sum to purchase items at exorbitant costs.

if you have $5 you don’t need today, please consider sharing a gift. We are so grateful for your presence here

Friends, we need your attention briefly, as Feras’ son has been told by a physician that he is dehydrated and malnourished, severely vitamin deficient. Neither of Feras’ sons are being well fed, and both parents are going with less for the sake of their sons. I can see in Feras’ recent photos that he looks thinner. Feras has communicated that obtaining essential flour is a huge source of stress – as the price per kilo is $25, but the price of a 25-kilo bag is $500. If you buy 25 kilos, you will save at least $125. This is profoundly frustrating as he cannot afford to buy the amount that allows him to access more for his money, and as a result his children suffer.

If you can contribute anything at this time, we are so grateful. If you are truly unable please be sure to share the campaign on or outside of social media.

Thank you so much for being here!

Donor family, thank you for participating and supporting Feras’ campaign. In the past three months the people living in the Gaza Strip have had zero entry of aid or resources. The price of all basic goods have shot up, flour is currently approximately $400 a bag. Feras’ two boys have had a lack of proper nutrition for their growth, and have no opportunities for play or recreation. Feras continues to work hard to try to make any income for his family, but the opportunity is next to nothing, despite all of his consistent effort. Please consider a gift today, or at the next time you are able, we need you now more than ever!!
